Solar energy passes the desert test
A demo (DC590B) board a PIC microcontroller that interfaces with the other demo board (DC571A), a differential 8-channel 24-bit ADC (LTC2418). Only four channels are used. Two channels of ADC measurement in V-and V-out. The other two measurement channels II-in and out of tensions as a ratio of the current, using a current amplifier on the other board. The board has been slightly modified with changes in resistance ratio 0.1V/1A. I wrote the code that would cover four differential channels of the ADC, take a snapshot of the measured voltages, convert, calculate the efficiency, and display on the LCD.The result is a simple system that displays Vs (voltage of the solar panel), I-in (input current of the battery charger), Vb (battery voltage), I took out (output current of the battery charger to the 12V lead-acid battery), and calculated yield (Vb x I out) / (Vs-x I-in) x 100. The last step was to make the unit run off a 9V alkaline battery to carry with me, but also able to use the 12V lead-acid battery.
