Elizabeth N. Davis
Bear Valley Springs resident Elizabeth N. Davis passed from this earth into eternity to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 12. She was 80 years old. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m. at the Wood Family Funeral Service Chapel in Tehachapi. Burial will follow at Bakersfield National Cemetery in Arvin at 12:30 p.m. Dr. Jeff Kaplan will conduct the services.
Elizabeth was born in Lewiston, Montana on April 3, 1930 to George Thomas and Frances (Wickless) Novinger, both of Missouri. She married William Finnell Davis on June 26, 1953 in Glendale. They had three children; James, Mark and Ann.
After graduating from UCLA, Elizabeth spent most of her working life as a kindergarten teacher at Mt. Avenue Elementary School in La Crescenta, California. She and Bill retired to Bear Valley Springs in 1991, and she became active in numerous organizations; AAUW (American Association of University Women), NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), a local book club and, of course, her church, the Bear Valley Community Church.
Elizabeth delighted in making every occasion a special event for her family. She was a very creative hostess.
Elizabeth is survived by her loving husband, Bill Davis of Bear Valley Springs; children, James L. and Reneé H. Davis of Glendale, Mark W. Davis of Tehachapi, and Ann C. and Jose G. Gonzalez of La Crescenta; sisters, Dorothy L. Novinger and Barbara J. Osteberg; brother, George Novinger; nine nieces and nephews, nine great nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Elizabeth’s name to: NAMI of Kern County, PO Box 9144, Bakersfield, CA 93389. Wood Family Funeral Service, Inc. has been entrusted with her care.
