THURSDAY
Tenth Avenue North at Six Flags Fiesta Texas (6 p.m., free with park admission, wristband required). Florida-bred contemporary-Christian band has crafted a positive sound that combines praise-and-worship and pop/rock. That sound has enabled the band to build a large, loyal and varied following; earn some Dove Music Awards and work venues ranging from churches to state fairgrounds. The quartet has hit with albums including “Over and Underneath,” “The Light Meets the Dark” and the latest, the CD/DVD combo “Live: Inside and In Between,” and songs such as “You Are More” and “Healing Begins.” Bonus: Bassist Ruben Juarez III is a San Antonio native, a graduate of Kings Academy.
The Krayolas at San Antonio Botanical Garden (gates at 6 p.m., music at 7, $8, $5 for members, free for those with Friends or above memberships). The annual Concerts Under the Stars series winds up with San Antonio rock ’n’ roll. The long-running band, fronted by Express-News music columnist/reporter Hector Saldaña, will have just returned from a couple of Houston gigs, so should be ready to showcase songs from the latest CD, “Tipsy Topsy Turvy,” for the homefolks. The core band will be augmented by harmonica player Benny Harp and keyboard ace Luvine Elias.
FRIDAY
Los TexManiacs at Pueblo Hall. The Grammy-winning Tex-Mex act led by Max Baca and David Farias had the dance floor jam-packed at the Tejano Conjunto Festival at Rosedale Park in May and won’t let the summer heat put the brakes on any of the fun. Little Henry Lee Parrilla’s Legendary Tribute Band will handle the oldies rock ’n’ roll and R&B. Mary Jane’s Friday’s menu is penne pasta alfredo, steamed vegetables and garlic bread.
Vincent Ingala, Michael Ward at Wonderland of the Americas mall. The Balcones Heights Jazz Festival this week features saxophonist Ingala and violinist Ward. Ingala, out of Connecticut, is still in his teens, but he’s making a considerable mark in the contemporary/smooth jazz world with a mature-beyond-his-years sound and the CD “North End Soul.” New Orleans-based Ward was born and raised in San Antonio and grew up surrounded by jazz. Ward studied piano and guitar before settling on jazz violin. It proved to be an excellent choice.
