Drive-to cruises are more practical than ever, especially with four terminals ...
Cruising from Baltimore is hot, hot, hot! Midstate travelers can jump in their cars and be at the pier in under two hours. They don’t have to go through the hassle of flying. And because they don’t need airfare, they can cruise for less.
The Port of Baltimore hosts three cruise lines: Carnival, Royal Caribbean and American. Carnival and Royal Caribbean are considered mass-market lines, meaning they appeal to a wide range of travelers and offer medium-priced cruises. American is a more expensive line. Collectively, they offer cruises to Florida and the Bahamas, the Caribbean, Bermuda, New England and Canada and the Eastern Seaboard.
The Carnival Pride sails Sundays throughout the year to the Eastern Caribbean, the Bahamas or Bermuda. The seven-night cruises to the Caribbean stop at Grand Turk in Turks & Caicos and Half Moon Cay and either Freeport or Nassau in the Bahamas. The seven-night Bahamas cruises stop at Nassau and Freeport. The seven-night Bermuda cruises dock at King’s Wharf.
The Carnival Pride is a large ship, but not mega-sized, with a passenger capacity of just over 2,100. “Carnival’s signature feature for families is probably the water slide,” said Lori Heathcote, group and leisure agent at Bailey Travel in York, who also noted that the ship has plenty of adults-only areas. “[The Pride’s] food and entertainment are outstanding.”
Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas sails year-round to the Eastern Caribbean, the Southern Caribbean, Bahamas, Bermuda or New England/Canada. The seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruises stop at San Juan, St. Thomas, Dominican Republic and Labadee in Haiti. The 12-night Southern Caribbean cruises stop at Labadee, San Juan, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Antigua and Tortola in the British Virgin Islands.
The seven-night Bahamas cruises stop at Port Canaveral in Florida and Nassau and CoCo Cay in the Bahamas. The nine-night Bahamas cruises add a stop in Key West. The five- and six-night cruises to Bermuda dock at King’s Wharf. The nine-night New England/Canada cruises stop at Portland and Bar Harbor, Maine; St. John, New Brunswick; Halifax, Nova Scotia; and Boston. The eight-night Bermuda and Northeast cruises stop at King’s Wharf, Boston and Newport.
Enchantment of the Seas is another ship that’s large but not mega-sized, with a passenger capacity of just over 2,400. “This is a beautiful ship that’s very easy to navigate,” said Heathcote. “[It] also has excellent food and entertainment.

Fantasy cruise ship has fender bender | The Post and Courier ...
The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating a minor cruise ship accident between the Carnival Fantasy and a sister vessel Tuesday at the Port of Key West.
The Charleston-based Fantasy and the Carnival Imagination had minor cosmetic damage, but there were no injuries, pollution or structural damage during the incident, according to the Coast Guard.
The Imagination was moored and the 855-foot Fantasy was mooring when the vessels struck stern to stern, causing minor damage to both vessels.
Alcohol and drug testings have been conducted on personnel in safety-sensitive positions in accordance with Coast Guard policy.
The Fantasy, which accommodates 2,000 passengers, is on a voyage to the Bahamas. The ship is scheduled to return to Charleston on Friday, according to the S.C. Ports Authority.
