Teen pregnancy rate down
Ewer teenage girls are giving birth in Massachusetts than ever recorded.That’s according to a new study by the state Department of Public Health, which shows the number of births to mothers aged 15 to 19 dropped to 19.5 births per 1,000 women in 2009. That’s a significant decline from 22 births for every 1,000 women in 2007.
A study of births in the state found rates of pregnancies dropped by 32 percent for Asian teens, 14 percent for Whites and 11 percent for Hispanics.
