David Cameron's 'pukka' holiday at Jamie Oliver's Tuscan retreat
The property even features in one of his cook books, which was launched to coincide with a BBC television series he made on Italian cooking.
In Oliver's cookbook Jamie's Italy , he is shown at the villa with Baron Sanjust and friends sharing an al fresco lunch of pasta with a tomato and minced beef sauce, prepared by the one of the estate's housekeeper, Adriana.
Twice a year, Oliver takes apprentices from his restaurant Fifteen London to the villa on annual trips, to learn about wine, how the olives are harvested and pressed as well as curing meats.
The Camerons arrived at the £9,700-a-week villa last night after taking a budget flight from the UK. They are sharing the estate with two families who are old friends and with whom they are sharing the costs.
Last summer the villa, which has an idyllic view of vineyards, olive groves and a medieval stone tower built on Etruscan and Roman ruins, was rented by Francois Fillon, the French prime minister.
"I don't know if he passed on a recommendation – I think it's probably just a coincidence," said Baron Sanjust, 51.
The property comes with a gardener, maid service five days a week and catering from a team of cooks.
The 650 acre estate also features a swimming pool, tennis court, billiards room and three fishing lakes. Italian language and cooking lessons are also available for guests.
A terrace at the back of the house looks out onto a huge magnolia tree and an ornamental garden of roses and lavender bushes, with woods and vineyards beyond.
"It's a magnificent view – a natural amphitheatre – and I hope they like it," Baron Sanjust said.
"We'll treat Mr Cameron like any other guest. He may be the prime minister but I'm sure he wants to relax, just like anyone else on holiday.
"We'll be offering them Tuscan specialities made from local ingredients."
Evening meals will begin with a pasta-based 'primo' such as pappardelle al cinghiale (wild boar), pici al sugo Toscana, a local pasta with a thick meat sauce, or strozzapreti, a spiral pasta which literally means 'strangled priests'.
Main courses will include the classic bistecca alla fiorentina – the famed Tuscan T-bone steak, from a local herd of Chianine cattle – oca arrosta (roast goose) and filetti di maiale ai tre pepi (pork fillets in a creamy pepper sauce).
